From February 28 to March 1, the 2025 China-Russia Sanya Dialogue was held in Hainan, co-hosted by the China Public Diplomacy Association, the Russian International Affairs Council, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, and Beijing Club for International Dialogue. Zhang Hanhui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, and Igor Morgulov, Russian Ambassador to China, delivered video addresses. Wu Hailong, President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, and Ivan Timofeev, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), delivered opening remarks on-site. Yu Yunquan, President of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and Vice President of the China International Communications Group, delivered the closing speech. Han Hua, Founder and Secretary-General of the Beijing Club for International Dialogue, moderated the event.

Professor Chi Fulin, President of CIRD, was invited to attend the dialogue and provided comments during the session “China and Russia in the New World Order”. He pointed out that the relationships among major powers—including Russia-U.S., Europe-U.S., and Russia-Europe relations—are at a historical turning point, and global uncertainties have significantly increased. Meanwhile, China is injecting vital stability into the world by actively contributing to economic transformation, free trade, and global and regional governance. As Russia’s most important economic and trade partner, China is proactively opening its market, promoting the integration of industrial and supply chains between the two countries, and attracting Russian enterprises to invest in the Chinese market, thereby creating greater opportunities for China-Russia economic and trade relations.

The dialogue featured in-depth discussions among more than 30 experts and scholars from various fields, including strategy, diplomacy, think tanks, finance, business, and media, focusing on China-Russia relations and international concerns.

Also attending the event were Liang Hui, Secretary General of the CIRD-GRANDALL Center of FTP Law Studies, and Wang Yuehong, Assistant Researcher of the RCEP Research Institute, CIRD.
